AG Lit Sisters Presents: Her Many Avatars: Goddesses in Indian Mythology

Thematic Book Club Hosted by: Dr. Chhavi Gandhi Juneja With Diwali around the corner, AG Lit Sisters invites readers to explore the fascinating world of goddesses in Indian mythology and literature. From Lakshmi and Saraswati to Durga and Kali, and from Sita and Draupadi to contemporary mythological retellings, we'll explore the many stories, interpretations and representations of the feminine divine. Through books, folklore and literary retellings, we'll discuss themes of power, wisdom, courage, devotion, sacrifice, agency and rebellion, while revisiting familiar stories through fresh perspectives. Members are welcome to bring a book about an Indian goddess, a mythological retelling, a collection of folklore, or simply their curiosity about these timeless stories. As always, readers are welcome, but non-readers are celebrated! The session is open to anyone who enjoys stories and thoughtful conversations, whether or not they've read a book for the theme.
